Falkirk marched impressively into the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup thanks to goals from Ethan Ross and Dylan Tait.
John McGlynn’s men continue their fast start to the season after recording a fifth consecutive win in all competitions and one that takes them into the last eight of the competition with a place at Hampden Park up for grabs.
Brad Spencer paired with Dylan Tait once again lined up for the hosts with the visitors fielding a strong lineup suggesting they were not taking the competition lightly. An even but competitive first half ended goalless with it all to play for after the interval.
Not long into the second half Falkirk sprung into action, Keelan Adams down the right-hand side cut the ball back to the edge of the box and Ethan Ross was on the scene to finish impressively into the roof of the net to open the scoring for the bairns. The hosts weren’t finished there and nine minutes from time doubled their lead through Dylan Tait who tapped in from Sean Mackie’s cross after poor play from Hearts at the back.
Ryan Shanley was sent off deep into stoppage time however Falkirk held on to cap off a spectacular cup win to progress into the Premier Sports Quarter Finals. The draw will be made tomorrow after all the last 16 ties have been completed as Falkirk will look forward to seeing who they will face in the last eight competing for a semi-final spot.
