We are delighted to announce that defender Sean McGinty has completed his move to Scottish Championship outfit Ayr United. The 6ft 5in defender joins from Greenock Morton where he spent a season-and-a-half.
Sean who was a youth graduate at Manchester United, moved north of the border in 2018 when he signed with Partick Thistle from Torquay United before making the switch to Morton in January last year.
McGinty who signs at Somerset Park ahead of the 2021/2022 season spoke of his delight at joining the club and how he looks forward to playing in Ayr when the season begins.
“I’ve played Ayr a good few times, especially in my time at Partick and they were a real force. It is a fantastic football club, really well run with a really good fan base. I live in Uddingston so it is only 45 minutes from where I live. What the chairman and the manager are building here made me really want to be part of it and I am really looking forward to getting started.
“I get on really well with the gaffer, he took me to Morton and when he left, we stayed in touch ever since. As soon as he called me, I felt it was something that I really wanted to be part of and I’m delighted he has given me the opportunity to come here and work with him again. I look forward to being part of this team and hopefully creating something very special here.”
Everyone at Superior Sports wishes Sean the best of luck at Somerset Park.
