Raith Rovers captain Scott Brown is closing in on a return to first team training following an injury sustained earlier this season. The influential midfielder has been working hard behind the scenes to regain full fitness under the watchful eye of the club’s medical staff. Brown’s return to the first team will prove to be a major boost for new First Team Manager Neil Collins who will be keen to have his captain back out on the pitch.
Brown’s injury came as a blow to Raith especially with the team undergoing changes in management. The 28-year-old has been a key figure for the club as well as a leader on and off the pitch. As the club captain, his absence has been felt particularly in the middle of the park where Raith have struggled to maintain possession and control of games recently resulting in some pure results to begin their 2024/2025 Scottish Championship campaign.
New Manager Collins spoke openly to the media about his players picking out Brown as a key part of his plans moving forward. The former Barnsley boss recognises Brown’s leadership qualities, not just through his vocal presence but also in his ability to dictate the tempo of games.
Speaking to the media after joining the club Collins said; “Scott’s leadership is invaluable to us. He sets the standard in training and matches and getting him back to full fitness is a priority. We’ve missed the influence, and I’m confident he’ll be a huge asset for the team once he’s ready to return.”
While no definitive timeline has been given for Scott’s return the club will be keen to take no risks to make sure he can play a key part this season however the latest is that the midfielder is progressing well in his rehabilitation. As Scott’s return edges closer, Rovers fans will be looking forward to seeing their captain back in action in the near future.
