Lee Ashcroft scored twice as Dundee strolled to a comfortable 3-0 away win over bottom side Alloa Athletic. The result takes James McPake’s side up to third place in the league table.
The visitors who dominated the first 45 minutes were pushing for the opening goal and came close when Max Anderson set up Declan McDaid who’s powerful shot skipped wide of the post.
Three minutes before the break the deadlock was finally broken. Minutes after Ashcroft fired a header wide, a corner was taken by Paul McGowan which Ashcroft slammed in at the back post.
Into the second half and Jason Cummings should have doubled Dundee’s lead. The visiting striker pounced on a mistake from Liam Dick however a brilliant save from Neil Parry was enough to keep it out and keep the home side in the game.
Five minutes later, Lee was at it again this time with his second header of the evening. Another corner was sent in by McGowan and Ashcroft did well to hold off Andy Graham before heading into the top corner.
Dundee sealed the victory ten minutes from time when Paul McMullan played through Max Anderson who turned and finished neatly past Parry.
Dundee now move up to third position in the Scottish Championship level on points with Dunfermline Athletic who they meet next on Saturday 27th March at Dens Park with a 7.20pm kick-off.
