At just 22 years of age, Kieran Shanks is making massive strides in Scottish football as a key player for Peterhead Football Club. Known for his skill and goal-scoring ability, Shanks has quickly become a pivotal part of the team’s forward line, and his performances are catching the eyes of the fans, clubs and experts alike. Shanks football journey began at Aberdeen, where he spent eight years developing his talent in the youth club’s academy. His time at Pittodrie gave him the foundation for his professional career, and it was Highland League side Inverurie Locos where Kieran made a name for himself.
In the 2020/2021 season, Kieran demonstrated his finishing ability, scoring an impressive 30 goals in just 44 appearances. His rewards came at the end of the year when he was named both the Players’ Player of the Year and Committee Player of the Year. These accolades solidified Shanks as one of the most promising talents in the Scottish lower leagues.
Following his successful stint in Inverurie, Scottish Championship side Arbroath came calling, signing Shanks on a three-year deal. This was an exciting move for Kieran where he gained valuable experience at a higher level and went onto make 21 appearances for the club during the 2021/2022 season. Into his second season at Gayfield, Kieran joined Peterhead on loan, where he would continue to showcase his abilities in front of goal. During his time up north, Shanks proved to be a key player, scoring 3 goals in 17 appearances. His performances proved to be enough for the club to secure his services on a permanent basis the following season.
Since joining at Balmoor Stadium on a permanent basis, Kieran has been nothing short of exceptional. He has quickly become an integral part of the team’s forward line, with his goal-scoring prowess playing a significant role in the club’s current push for promotion. This season, Shanks has netted 10 goals in his last 18 games, further solidifying his reputation as a clinical striker in Scottish League Two. His ability to consistently deliver and find the back of the net has made him a constant threat to opposition defences, and Peterhead’s hopes of being crowned Scottish League Two champions will most definitely intensify with the 22-year-old leading the forward line each week.
