Brian Rice’s side travelled to the capital last night off the back of 1-1 draw at home to Dundee United six days earlier. Having scored in all four away games this season in the league, winning two of them at Motherwell and Livingston, the visitors travelled full of confidence. However, it was Jack Ross’ side who started the strongest and raced into the lead inside the first 20 minutes through Kevin Nisbet. A second from Nisbet and a first goal of the season from Paul Hanlon had the home side 3 up at the halfway point.
Hamilton fought back after the break and with 15 minutes left on the clock, Callachan converted a penalty high into the top left corner after Callum Smith was brought down. Ross sealed his first goal in an Accies shirt since joining the club in July after striker Mario Ogkmpoe failed to convert from the spot 20 minutes earlier.
Brian Rice’s side did get their second of the afternoon after Callum Smith’s cross was headed in by Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous for an own goal. The home side held on to claim all 3 points but for Hamilton their winless run has been extended to three games.
During the international break Hamilton start their Betfred cup campaign with games against Annan Athletic and Ayr United before they return to league action against St Johnstone in two weeks’ time.
