Congratulations to Callum Booth, Jack Wills and St Johnstone on a remarkable 1-0 victory over Hibernian in the Scottish Cup Final this afternoon. St Johnstone claim the domestic cup double for the first time in the club’s history.
Both sides had chances early on to take the lead before Shaun Rooney headed home from a delightful cross from David Wotherspoon just after the half hour mark.
The other major highlight of the game came fifteen minutes from the end. Paul McGinn brought down Chris Kane and Rangers loanee Glen Middleton failed to convert from the spot. The Perthshire side however did hang on to claim a historic double under Callum Davidson.
The victory confirmed the greatest season in St Johnstone’s history and their second Scottish Cup victory, having won it in 2014 against Aberdeen at Celtic Park.
Saints become the first club outside the old firm to land two major cups in Scotland in the same season since Aberdeen in 1989-1990. They have also earned a place in Europe for next season.
Congratulations to Callum, Jack, and St Johnstone from all at Superior Sports.
